Within the context of the roadmap handed over to the Government by H.S.H. Prince Albert II on 20th July 2010, the Sovereign Order published in the Journal Officiel of 22nd April 2011 provides for the re-organisation of the Office of Economic Expansion’s mission and duties.
This forms part of the measures to improve the Principality’s economic attractiveness and to modernise the State services for which this office plays a key role.
With the creation of the Monaco Business Office (MBO) headed by Laurence Garino, the Monegasque Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies (IMSEE) under the management of Lionel Galfré, the implementation of new procedures and faster turnaround times for company set-ups, it appeared necessary to reorganise the Office of Economic Expansion according to the various areas of expertise. These now include:
A front office with the Monaco Business Office which includes the division for economic development and financing.
A back office or “General Administration” centre made up of:
- the business set up division;
- the division for business activity monitoring;
- the division for legal studies;
- the Trade and Industry Register section.
The last area of expertise concerns intellectual property. It is composed of the division of the same name.
The aim of this internal reorganisation is to give better visibility to the mission of the Office of Economic Expansion, and, in addition, to improve the quality of the service provided to users.
Attached to the Ministry of Finance and the Economy, the Office of Economic Expansion, which was set up in 1996, currently has 31 members of staff placed under the supervision of Serge Pierryves, appointed as the Director on 1st December 2010, and his Assistant Elodie Kheng. |
