The state of the Louis II Stadium pitch, which held up very well last season leading to its excellent quality being praised, has unfortunately considerably deteriorated over the course of the last days of the month of July due to the high temperatures experienced.
Aware of the importance of the pitch for the smooth running of the French League 1 Football Championship matches and the next Super Cup fixtures alike, the Monegasque Authorities have taken the decision, in full agreement with ASM and UEFA, to replace the lawn.
According to the recommendations of the expert sent by UEFA, the replacement pitch originates from a Slovakian tree nursery which is currently giving the best guarantees in terms of robustness and resistance in this field.
Given the extremely busy fixture list, Société Parcs & Sports, the company in charge of pitch maintenance, has commissioned the work without hesitation. The new pitch will be laid from the beginning of next week and should be completed on Wednesday 11th August.
As such, the Louis II Stadium will have a brand new pitch for the start of the championship in mid-August and, of course, for the Inter de Milan – Atletico de Madrid Super Cup fixture on Friday 27th August 2010.
