On Wednesday 20th October 2010, for the first time in many years social partners and social security funds took part, alongside the Government of Monaco, in a joint meeting focused on intensifying the fight against undeclared employment and concealed work.
This goal was seen to be shared by all during bipartite meetings between the Department of Social Affairs and Health, the “Fédération Patronale Monégasque” (Monegasque Employers’ Federation) and the “Union des Syndicats de Monaco” (Union of Monaco Trade Unions). It is about protecting the employee’s right to social welfare, protecting employers against unfair competition and ensuring that social security funds receive all the contributions they are due.
During the highly constructive meeting, lasting close to 4 hours, presided over by the Government Counsellor for Social Affairs and Health, in the presence of representatives of other departments concerned, various implementation methods were put forward by each of the 4 delegations.
These include improving coordination of the controls carried out by the various departments, reinforcing sanctions and implementing specific monitoring measures for the sectors most at risk.
In order to move forward in each of these areas, it has been decided to create technical task forces entrusted with submitting proposals to the Government shortly.
