4 p.m. on Sunday 11th December 2011, Monaco Cathedral
The great organ of Monaco Cathedral, which will be blessed on Thursday 8th December by His Grace Barsi, the archbishop of Monaco, will begin its musical life under the hands of titular organist Olivier Vernet during an inaugural public concert on Sunday 11th December.
The organ builders, Thomas in Belgium, selected following an international competition organised by the Office of Cultural Affairs, began the restoration in November 2009.
The organ was brought back to Monaco last March, when it was reassembled and the long tuning process began. The Principality now boasts an instrument of exceptional value, both from a musical and architectural point of view.
This inaugural concert is a unique opportunity to discover the new organ.
