The first components of Monaco Cathedral’s new organ have just arrived in the Principality. Manufactured by the organ builder Thomas from Spa in Belgium, they were brought to Monaco aboard two lorries. The metallic structure weighing 7 tonnes which will hold the instrument, the bellows, the pedal board springs, part of the case, as well as pieces of wood and metal pipe, are currently being installed.
A third lorry will arrive with the remaining pieces in mid-April.
The installation of the new organ, which will weigh 25 tonnes, will be completed by the end of May. Five months are then needed to tune it.
