Following the earthquake which hit the North East coast of Japan on Friday, H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince has asked his government to offer the Japanese Authorities the support of a search and rescue unit (S.A.R.). The unit is composed of eleven firefighters, including an officer, who could be integrated into the French detachment.
The Principality of Monaco is therefore joining the many countries which have shown their solidarity for Japan by offering fast and appropriate relief.
For readers' information, this operation falls within the scope of the Agreement of 21st May 2004 between the Government of the Principality of Monaco and the Government of the French Republic on “the integration of Monegasque firefighters into French rescue teams for operations outside the French territory, in the event of a natural disaster or major technological accident”. The agreement can be consulted on www.legimonaco.mc. |
