The Grimaldi Forum Monaco unveils its programme for the first half of 2009

02-02-2009-

After a brief overview of 2008, the Grimaldi Forum Monaco unveiled its programme for the 7 months ahead on Wednesday 21st January. As every year, cultural events and trade fairs will be hosted in this exceptional venue which will also welcome the headquarters and Press Centre for the Tour de France in July.

As for culture, shows, concerts and exhibitions will take place on the stage of the Grimaldi Forum. The season gets off to a great start with the Pussycat Dolls for a unique evening in Monaco on 17th February. Comedy is on the menu in March with the 4th “sérénissimes de l’humour” and Gad Elmaleh’s new one man show in mid June. From February to April, the most beautiful women in the world, immortalised by Willy Rizzo, will illuminate the Grande Verrière which will also be showcasing photos of furniture designed by this self-taught creator. This summer’s main event, the exhibition “Moscow: splendours of the Romanovs” will turn the spotlight on Russian art from the 2nd half of the 18th century to the early 20th century featuring works mainly from the Historical Museum of Moscow.

Traditional representatives of Monegasque culture will also feature on the programme. At the end of April and the beginning of May, the Monte Carlo Ballet will illustrate, through dance, how Faust sold his soul to the devil. The Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra is offering an exceptional evening on 15th May on the theme “American landscapes” with Wayne Marshall as conductor and on the piano.

As far as fairs are concerned, professionals and individuals alike are expected in March for the 2009 edition of the annual Ever Monaco Exhibition, dedicated to the latest models of ecological vehicles. The exhibition focuses on renewable energies. The “3rd Monte Carlo Rally for Alternative Fuel Vehicles” will be arriving in front of the Grimaldi Forum on Saturday 28th March. Showcasing luxury cars, the Top Marques Show will open its doors on 16th April much to the pleasure of all racing car lovers, without forgetting the exceptional ecological vehicles with a futuristic design. Last but not least, from 7th to 11th June, TV stars will be meeting up for the 49th Television Festival; a must for the television industry.

From 2nd to 5th July, the Grimaldi Forum will be at the heart of the Tour de France's Grand Depart, welcoming an expected 650 journalists for this unique event which is sure to be a red-letter day for all sports lovers and many others…
