FIRST CANDLE FOR LIFE

04-12-2009-
1st anniversary of the signing of the Charter of Paris against Cancer between France and the Principality of Monaco

The Charter of Paris against Cancer was signed on 7th December 2008 in the Salon Belle Epoque at the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo, in the presence of His Serene Highness Sovereign Prince Albert II of Monaco. This Charter was created by Professor David Khayat and signed on 4th February 2000 in the Elysée by President Jacques Chirac and UNESCO.

A Combat Conference on progress made within the field of cancer research will be given on 11th December 2009 at 5 p.m. in the Salon Atlantique of the Meridien Beach Plaza Hotel (admission free) by Professor David Khayat, Head of the Oncology Department at the Pitié Salpétrière Hospital in Paris, Founding President of the Association pour la Vie – Espoir contre le Cancer, A.V.E.C. and President of the Charter of Paris against Cancer.

The famous artist Nanou Herman (his nostalgic paintings of a lost childhood featuring soft cuddly teddy-bears were extremely successful for many years at Harrod’s of London) has produced paintings especially for the auction in aid of A.V.E.C. Association pour la Vie - Espoir contre le Cancer, the Moonwalk painting in tribute to Michael Jackson. The painting will be the leitmotiv of the Gala Evening – a dinner dance First Candle for Life which will follow the Combat Conference in the Mediterranean Ball Room.
Ticket for the Gala Evening: 380 euros

For the past 5 years, Mrs Marie Cécile Proust, the Minister of State’s wife, has lent her support to the Association pour la Vie - Espoir contre le Cancer in the Principality. Once again this year, Alberto and Gio Repossi will be alongside Professor David Khayat donating 2 prestigious Repossi watches – one gentleman’s and one lady’s – for the auction. The following have also donated items for auction:

Asprey London; Enigma Italy, Façonnable, Camicie, Alfredo Pauly Furs, the painter Natacha Toutain (painting of Marilyn Monroe), Moghadam Monaco, Philippe Ferrandis Paris, René Caovilla Italy-France, Loxwood Paris, the hotels Capri Palace Hotel & Spa, Villa Mangiacane in Tuscany, Sofitel Thalasso in Quiberon, Westin Arabella Spa in Munich. Mr & Mrs Jean Christophe Tressel are offering a week’s stay at their residence in Gstaad. As in previous years, Mrs Regine Sixt is lending support to A.V.E.C. by sponsoring Sixt Rent a Car’s prestigious cars.

The auction will be conducted by Mr Lional Gosset from Christie’s Paris.
H.R.H. the Duchess de Castro, Princess Camilla de Bourbon Siciles and Lady Monica del Campo Bacardi of Bayfield Hall have all asked their friend to take part in the event which is being organised by Lord Michael Anders Canendish, Ambassador for the Charter of Paris against Cancer.
