The APHM (Monaco Hospital Personnel Association) cyclist team is preparing to take up a serious challenge. For the Tour de France 2009 Grand Départ, Doctor Pierre Garcia and his professional and athletic colleagues have decided to cycle in turns the 3 500 km of the official route 24 hours non-stop for a whole week.
Our big-hearted cyclists have chosen to take up this challenge for humanitarian purposes. All funds raised will go to Monaco Collectif Humanitaire which groups together 18 Monegasque associations actively involved in humanitarian and development work. Among them, the association Children & Future which organises the No Finish line event every year (a humanitarian sports challenge involving an 8-day non-stop running race in Monaco), is lending its support to the Tour Challenge as a co-organiser.
Having received authorisation from the Prince’s Palace and according to the guidelines issued by the Department of the Interior, the Tour Challenge is scheduled to set off on 3rd July at 10.30 a.m. from the Rainier III Water Sports Stadium.
