On 18th March 2008, on the occasion of the 50th birthday of H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince, 18 Monegasque NGOs and the Office of International Cooperation, united under the name “Monaco Collectif Humanitaire” presented their project intended to pay tribute to the H.S.H. Prince Albert II’s commitment within the field of humanitarian action.
This project is designed to increase significantly the number of children cared for in the Principality for pathologies that cannot be treated in their home countries. The programme, launched in January 2008, has already enabled operations to be carried out on 7 children from Sub-Saharan Africa.

The presentation evening, bringing together the partner hospital establishments (the Princess Grace Hospital, the Monaco Cardio-Thoracic Center and IM2S), the initial benefactors as well as the foster families and the young patients, gave H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince the opportunity to assess the extent of the concerted efforts.
Fully confident about the programme and keen to support the surge of solidarity uniting non-profit associations, the Monaco Government and Monegasques in this humanitarian project, H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince decided to donate to it all the donations received during his accession, i.e. 560 000 Euros.
This generous donation is in addition to the 400 000 euros already raised. As a result, thanks to this initiative, around one hundred children will be able to receive treatment.
