The Director of the World Food Programme (WFP) for France and Monaco, Ms Marina Catena, is in Monaco for two days, chiefly to give a presentation to Monegasque NGOs on the global hunger issue, in relation to the Millennium Development Goals and WFP action.
This morning, Ms Catena presented to representatives of Amade Monaco, AMREF Monaco, the Monegasque Red Cross, Monaco Aide et Présence, the mission of WFP and the activities it carries out jointly with the Principality with regard to emergency aid. DENJS' contribution to the Free Rice Programme, implemented by WFP in support of the countries in the Horn of Africa, was also touched upon.
Tomorrow Ms Catena will be discussing all these issues with Mr José Badia, Minister for External Relations, Mr Paul Masseron, Minister of the Interior, Ms Isabelle Bonnal, Director of National Education, Youth and Sport (DENJS) and Mr Jérôme Froissart, Director of the International Cooperation.
