For many years, the Principality has been developing a policy in support of the electric vehicle. To date, close to 350 two and four wheel electric vehicles are registered in Monaco. They benefit from over 400 charging points in public car parks and more recently two fast-charge points on the public highway. Access to these charging points is available to all vehicles in the Principality and is free of charge.
As part of its mobility strategy, the Nice Côte d’Azur Urban Community was the first in France to have implemented the "Auto Bleue" car sharing scheme exclusively with electric vehicles last spring on a wide-scale basis. In the long term, 210 electric vehicles will be available in the Nice Côte d’Azur region.
Keen to foster the development of clean mobility across the French Riviera, the Principality and the Urban Community have joined forces to promote the use of electric vehicles within their territories.
In practical terms, until 31st December 2012, Monegasque electric vehicles holding a public car park season ticket will be able to use the charging points installed for the “Auto Bleue” system free of charge. Likewise, French drivers belonging to the car sharing system will be able to use the facilities available in the Principality to charge their vehicles.
In order to identify vehicles and also allow them to benefit from free parking facilities above ground in both countries, a specific logo has been adopted and will be placed on all the electric vehicles concerned.
The launch of this partnership took place on Friday 2nd September in Monaco, in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II and Mr Christian Estrosi, MP and Deputy Mayor of Nice and President of Nice Côte d’Azur.
