Monday 21st November 2011 - Rainier III Auditorium – 5 p.m.
Universal Children's Day which celebrates the anniversary of the signing of the International Convention ratified on 20th November 1989 by the United Nations General Assembly, will be held on Monday 21st November at 5 p.m. in the Rainier III Auditorium (admission free).
258 children from various schools in the Principality will be performing a show featuring singing, dance and body expression, based on the international theme for 2011: "the sexual abuse of children".
As they arrive in the Rainier III Auditorium, the public will be greeted by music performed by the Lycée Albert I's Music Club.
A buffet run by students from the Monte Carlo Technical and Hotel School's community club will be offering products made by the school's hotel section.
The event will conclude with a tombola draw.
All the funds raised at the event, as well as funds collected in October and November (tombola, sale of cakes) will go to two associations, the United Nations World Food Aid Programme and the Monegasque Foundation for Underprivileged Children, presided over by H.S.H. Princess Charlene.
All associations of a humanitarian nature striving to defend the rights of the child through their action, will attend the event.
Funds raised over the past 10 years have been used as follows: Casa do Menor in 2001, construction of a goat farm in Teresopolis, Brazil; in 2002, Mission Enfance support for the games library in Bogota, Colombia; in 2003, the Preventorium Rainier III in Madagascar; in 2004, AMREF Monaco Flying Doctors: Nairobi shanty towns; in 2005, Enfants du Monde, fight against Noma's Disease in Burkina Faso; in 2006, Ephata Provence Madagascar, for the benefit of blind children in Fianarantsoa; in 2008, the Association "Monaco Collectif Humanitaire"; in 2009, SEB Association and Monaco Disease Power: renovation of schools in Mali and aid to disabled children; in 2010, "Monaco Collectif Haiti": reconstruction of the country; 2010 - Walking for Kids Association: renovation of schools in Cameroon. |
