Message from H.S.H. the Prince
Further to the positions adopted following the G20, extensively covered by the press this week, HSH the Prince would like to deliver the following message:
“In the context of the international crisis which has prevailed for several months, concerns have emerged and been voiced about the Principality’s situation, even if the latter is less affected than other countries, due to the dynamic nature and diversity of its economy, as well as the good health of its public finances.
In the present climate, uniting Monegasques and residents around the Institutions is even more necessary and will guarantee success in the future.
The instructions I gave my Government, in whom I have complete trust, have already been implemented and have resulted in progress enabling our country to be removed from a black list on which it unjustly featured.
The implementation of these guidelines and following the ongoing international discussions should also enable the Principality to be acknowledged finally as having an identical status along with the other countries which have already adopted the international standards in terms of fiscal cooperation.
These delicate and complex negotiations cannot, quite obviously, be conducted in public. However, the National Council will be kept informed by the Government on a regular basis.
The Principality will instigate a judicious communications policy when the time comes, so that the facts are at last recognised and better appreciated.
My Government, armed with the guidelines I have provided, will continue their action in strict compliance with the Institutions, in the interest of the Principality, the Monegasque people and the population as a whole.”
