Women's 100m
The 2008 Herculis meet is honnored to host the last women’s 100m race before the Olympic Games. The world’s two best runners of the year, Torrence Edwards (USA) and Kerron Stewart (Jam), both hoping for an Olympic medal will be at the start of the race. Kin Gaevart (Bel), never absent for the big races, makes a point each year to be in Monaco for the incredible 100m’s line up. Christine Arron, on the otherside, European Record holder, has a weakness for the fast track of the stadium Louis II. Remember, last year, around the same time, she clocked a time of 11.06, reassuring herself just before the 2007 World Championships with this ideal time. The 2008 HERCULIS meet will be the last opportunity for the world’s best sprinters to race against each other before the Olympic Games of Beijing. Asafa Powell (JAM) is on track for a win after regaining confidence in Stockholm with his victory in 9.88. He will challenge his compatriot Michael Frater, last year’s winner in Monaco, Derrick Atkins (BAH), 2nd in the 2007 World Championships and Ronald Pognon (FRA), French Recordman.
